Owens-Thomas House & Slave Quarters
At the Owens-Thomas house we will discuss the antebellum era and how slavery impacted Savannah’s history.

Tours are Tuesday through Saturday at 10AM & 2PM. The tour meets in Chippewa Square and ends in Forsyth Park. Tour run time is 90 minutes. Free Cancelation up to 24 hours in advance. Confirmation email will be sent after booking.

With over eight years of experience leading walking tours, she is passionate about helping visitors truly understand Savannah’s history — not just see it. Drawn to the city’s distinctive layout, architecture, and layered past, Sarah has dedicated herself to continually deepening her knowledge of Savannah’s people, culture, and defining moments.

As you walk beneath the moss-draped oaks and through the historic squares, she brings the city’s stories to life in a clear, engaging, and conversational way — offering context, connection, and a deeper appreciation for this remarkable place.

FAQ

  • The tour covers approximately 2 miles over the course of about 90 minutes. We walk at a relaxed pace with frequent shaded stops, allowing time to listen, ask questions, and rest as needed.

  • You will meet your guide, Sarah, in Chippewa Square in Savannah’s Historic District. She will be in front of the big statue in the center of the square and will be wearing a blue Tour Guide lanyard.

  • Tours run rain or shine. In the event of light rain, we continue as planned, and many stops offer tree cover. In cases of severe weather, you’ll be contacted with options to reschedule or receive a full refund.

  • Yes. Children are welcome, and many families enjoy the experience. The tour is best suited for children who are comfortable walking and interested in history and storytelling.

  • The route follows mostly flat sidewalks and public pathways through the Historic District. While generally accessible, some areas have uneven pavement typical of historic cities.

  • Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. During warmer months, bring water, sunscreen, and a hat. In cooler seasons, dress appropriately for the weather.
